The Barcelona-born driver feels well prepared for the final two races of the season coming into the weekend in Abu Dhabi following simulator testing both at Carlin and Dallara. Canamasas expects to round off the season with the best possible result and end in style.
Sergio Canamasas will contest the eleventh and final round of the GP2 Series, the main F.1 feeder series, next weekend. The only Spanish driver in the series will be at the wheel of his Carlin-entered Dallara GP2/11 once again at Abu Dhabi´s Yas Marina Circuit and he has really been working hard over the last two months as the penultimate round in Malaysia was held in early October. In the meantime Canamasas has carried out simulator testing at Carlin and Dallara as the Yas Marina Circuit is a challenging track with a lot of demanding corners around the lap.
“The waiting seemed to go on forever! Following a two-month hiatus, I am looking forward to driving the GP2 car again. As always, the final event of the season is a bit sad as another racing year comes to an end. But at the same time it is something which gives me extra motivation because you always want to gain the best result possible as the curtain falls on the GP2 Series”, Canamasas explains. He added, “I´ve been working both physically, driving my go-kart, and mentally for Abu Dhabi. Besides, I recently visited Carlin and Dallara facilities to test their simulators. I really loved Dallara´s one, because it is so real. At the same time, Carlin and I had the chance to analyze what went wrong during our last races. We already know what and where we need to improve. Lady Luck wasn´t on our side throughout the season but I feel confident because that trend may change for the season finale. We have worked faithfully for it!”
Both free practice and qualifying sessions are slated for Friday. Saturday´s feature race with mandatory pit stop will take place at 15.40 (CET) and Sunday´s sprint race is due to start 11.20.
