Mon 10, Feb, 2020

The 20-year-old from Toronto will be lining-up with Team Trident in the FIA Formula 3 Championship for a second consecutive season. After a positive run that featured impressive growth last year, DeFrancesco has everything he needs to make his way among the frontrunners.

The partnership between young Canadian racer Devlin DeFrancesco and Team Trident will extend into the 2020 season. The driver from Ontario will race for the Milan-based operation for the second consecutive year, once again in the FIA Formula 3 Championship. DeFrancesco showed impressive growth in 2019 and is now set to be among the most promising protagonists of the hyper-competitive series, which is a key step for the career of every driver.

DeFrancesco established great chemistry with the team’s technical staff which is a really important factor ahead of what will be a very challenging season. The work will need to be perfect, and every single element might turn out to be a deciding one. Running with Team Trident in the post-season test held from 20th to 22nd of October at the Spanish Cheste track near Valencia, DeFrancesco remained impressive.

He also has a notable motorsport experience. The 19-year-old scored three wins in the 2016 British Formula 4 Championship. In the following season, he took one win in the Euroformula Open championship ending up third in points. In 2018, DeFrancesco made his debut in the European Formula 3 Championship and in GP3, while last year he joined Team Trident in the FIA Formula 3 Championship. He will now be back with the same commitment for the opening round of the year. The series will run for the first time at Al Sakhir in Bahrain on March 21st and 22nd.

"I’m happy to be sticking with such an incredible team – starting with the Team Principal Maurizio Salvadori, my engineer Andrea Tesi Mancini, who’s become very close to me, and also Giacomo Ricci and Rocco Berardi, my number one mechanic who’s also unbelievable. I’m looking forward to a good year, we found some good stuff during the Valencia tests so I’m sure we can translate that into good results in 2020."

Maurizio Salvadori Team Owner:

“I am very satisfied for having extended the relationship with Devlin DeFrancesco in F3 for the 2020 season. Last year, Devlin showed great improvement and I am very optimistic about the coming season. I am convinced that the experience gained in 2019 will allow him to harvest the good results that today are certainly within his reach."
