Devlin DeFrancesco is preparing to kick off his F3 Asian Championship certified by the FIA, campaign in style this coming weekend, as he heads to world renowned Sepang International Circuit, to get things underway with Absolute Racing.
This will be a weekend of firsts for the nineteen year old - a new team, new circuit, new climate and new car - all challenges which he can’t wait to get stuck into. With plenty of overtaking opportunities, Devlin is looking to further showcase his racecraft that became so apparent during his FIA F3 campaign, as the field hit the 5.54km Malaysian circuit for the first time on Friday.
With plenty of on-track action this weekend, Devlin will have to be on his A-Game from the word go. With three races, two qualifying sessions and a free practice, spread over just two days, it will be a packed schedule for the young Canadian-Italian.
Having last raced at the end of September in the final round of the F3 Championship, Devlin is keen to get back on-track and kick off his winter programme. Working with Absolute Racing, a team widely regarded as one of the biggest names in Asian Motorsport, the nineteen year old is looking forwards to seeing what they can achieve together.
‘I can’t wait to get back out on track’ commented Devlin
‘Sepang is all new for me so it’s going to be a exciting weekend. The team and I have been working hard to get to this point so it’ll be good to get it all into action.’
The Asian F3 Championship is contested over five rounds from now until mid-February, so Devlin will be kept busy throughout the European winter break. Racing begins Friday 13th December and can be streamed via Asian F3’s Youtube Channel and Facebook page - full timetable below
