The WTCC summer break is over and Craft-Bamboo Racing have made their way to Japan, where, Grégoire Demoustier, will take the fight to the independents category. The Japanese round is the first of four races in the Far East that will bring the 2015 WTCC season to a close. For the very first time in the series history, the Japanese round will be held at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit and Demoustier will be hoping to continue his good form that has been shown in recent rounds. In close contention with the other independents in the Yokohama Drivers’ standings, the young Frenchman is focusing on a good haul of points to kick-start the final stage of his first touring car season.
After completing some test sessions over the summer break, Demoustier has continued to develop his driving style and adjust to the transition of moving to a FWD touring car. After successful test sessions in Navarra, Spain and Magny-Cours, France, Demoustier has gained more crucial on track experience in varying conditions that will help with his challenge in Japan.
Only two points separate him from his closest challenger and with the series now competing on a conventional circuit once again, it will provide, Demoustier, with more chances to overtake and give him a real shot at collecting some more world championship points.
The ninth round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship at the Twin Ring Motegi in Japan begins with free practice one at 09:30 – 10:00 (GMT+9) on Saturday September 12th, with free practice two following at 12:00 – 12:30. Later that day, qualifying one and two will run from 15:30-16:05, with qualifying three set to begin at 16:10. Two 13 lap races will be run on Sunday, September 13th with race one scheduled for 14:15 and race two for 15:25.
Craft-Bamboo Racing’s World Touring Car Championship campaign would not have been possible without the support of, Eurodatacar, Ravenol, Gravity, Musto, Team Dynamics and Orangebus.
Quotes
Grégoire Demoustier, Driver
“I am looking forward to this round as we have completed various tests during the summer break and I am feeling more confident than ever with the car. I hope that I can continue improving my skills and take another position in the independents trophy. It will be another new track for me but I am well prepared for the challenge and I can’t wait to get back to racing.”
Richard Coleman, CEO of Craft-Bamboo Racing
“It will be interesting to go to a new track in the WTCC calendar and the Twin Ring Motegi should make for some great racing. We have had some time to recharge over the summer period and both the team and Grégoire have been working hard throughout to prepare for the final push this season. A circuit the championship has not been to before will suit Greg but the weather forecast looks very challenging.”
