Wed 22, Oct, 2014

Gulf Oil, one of the most evocative brands in the motorsport industry has renewed its Technical Partnership with Dubai based GulfSport Racing to supply lubricants for the FG11 single-seater racing car used in the Formula Gulf 1000 National Championship. The agreement was signed by Mathan Kumar (Deputy General Manager-Retail Sales) for Gulf Oil Middle East Ltd and Martin Hope (Technical Director & Managing Partner) for GulfSport Racing who own and promote the series.

“Gulf Oil has been supporting professional race teams since 1968 and so we recognize the importance of a driver development series like this. Motorsport is an efficient manner to promote our products and so we are delighted to renew our association with GulfSport Racing” commented Mathan Kumar. “Gulf Oil and Aston Martin will again welcome the Formula Gulf Champion as our guest at the next Le Mans 24 Hour – the world’s biggest motor race”.

The Gulf Oil brand and its famous blue and orange logo has been synonymous with motor racing for 46 years and has become one of the most iconic motorsport brands in the world carrying with it the passion and deep affection of millions of motorsport enthusiasts.

“Before last season started Gulf Oil developed a unique lubricant especially for us to meet the demanding needs of the high-performance Suzuki motorcycle engines being used to power our race cars. Bikers rarely use full throttle and high revs to the extent that our drivers do, and so this was the ultimate test of their oil. I am delighted to say that after 15,000 kms at racing speeds the lubricant has exceeded our expectations. We are delighted to renew the partnership with such a legendary motorsport brand and we also look forward to supplying this product to the motorcycling community in the UAE ” said Barry Hope, a Managing Partner of GulfSport Racing. “”

The Gulf Oil brand will again be prominent on all Formula Gulf 1000 racing cars and associated publicity. Season Four commences in November 2014 with 14 races held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Last season’s Champion, 16 year old Tom Bale has been competing in the BRDC F4 series in the UK.
