Tutumlu, the only Spanish driver contesting the ADAC GT Masters, will make his debut in the series at Oschersleben. The Barcelona-born driver gained some valuable experience during the official pre-season tests held at the same circuit last week in the Car Collection Motorsport Audi R8 LMS.
Isaac Tutumlu gears up for his ADAC GT Masters debut at Oschersleben, the first of seven race weekends scheduled by the ADAC GT Masters. The German championship, one of the strongest championships devoted to GT3 specifications on a par with the Blancpain Series, starts off in style with several factory-backed teams. This year is an exceptional chance for Tutumlu, as the ADAC GT Masters is a showcase for good drivers. Tutumlu, who claimed a podium finish at the Dubai 24 hours early this year, confirmed his racing program with Car Collection Motorsport a few weeks ago. He will drive an Audi R8 LMS and pair with young South African driver, Kevin van der Linde.
Tutumlu completed his first laps at Oschersleben last week on the occasion of the official collective testing. New Car Collection Motorsport said: “I completed around fifty laps. You need experience and confidence to become quick at Oschersleben, but I already set some good lap times even when there is room for improvement. Kelvin, a former champion in the series, was a massive help to me, because he knows those little tricks to gain time”. Talking about his expectations for the opening round Tutumlu comments “I prefer to be cautious on prospects despite my solid start. Something like 35 or 40 cars are expected, so a top-ten finish would be ok. But, why not, a top-five would be much better but we need everything going according to plan. The entry list is incredible, with factory-backed efforts of Porsche, Bentley, BMW or, as in our case, Audi among others. Besides, there are distinguished surnames such asVanthoor, Winkelhock, Estre, Tomczyk, van Lagen, Basseng, Sandström or Mies. Then you realized how strong the ADAC GT Masters is. To be honest, it is a morale booster for me.”
Friday is devoted to free practice sessions. On Saturday, Q1 takes place at 9.25 with race 1 at 13.15. Q2 and race 2 will be held on Sunday at 9.25 and 13.15 once again.
