Spaniard of Kurdish heritage Tutumlu is ready to race at the 24 hours of Barcelona driving the Leipert Motorsport-entered Lamborghini Huracán. Yesterday, he was invited to the official presentation of the race taking place at RACC headquarters in Barcelona.
Isaac Tutumlu is just a few hours away of the 24 hours of Barcelona, to be held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. As he himself confirmed two weeks ago, the Spaniard of Kurdish roots will share a Lamborghini Huracan of Leipert Motorsport with Mikko Eskelinen, Vadim Gitlin and Ulrik Roland Pedersen. The four driver line-up will for SP2 honors in the #22.
Yesterday´s launch event took place in Barcelona and it was attended by Mr. Felip Puig, local government´s Minister of Enterprise and Employment; Mr. Josep Mateu, President of RACC; Vicenç Aguilera, President of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya; Antonio Guil, Major of Montmeló; and Ivo Breukers, representative of the company; in addition to Tutumlu himself.
“I´m pleased to attend the 24 hours of Barcelona launch event with local authorities and organizers. Testing sessions start tomorrow and we need to focus on set-up for the race, because it´s important to feel comfortable during long stints. Besides, we need to decide our race trim during practice because fuel tank capacity depends on that”, Tutumlu explains, remarking that “it might be better to set slower lap times but making longer stints and avoiding mechanical damage. We carried out a private test session last week and my lap times were really good. But we must rely on a homogeneous driving. A 24-hour race is always a challenging event and Barcelona doesn´t seem to be an exception. And we could have changeable conditions, with rain, sun,… I love that. And I think we have excellent chances”.
Tomorrow´s free practice sessions will be an appetizer for Qualifying starting at 18.00. Night practice is scheduled at 20.45. Barcelona marathon is due to start at 12.00 on Saturday. Motors TV will have live coverage.
