The ninth round of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship didn't turn out as one of the most favorable for Prema Powerteam. In a rare circumstance for the Italian squad, none of its four drivers were able to secure wins. Greeted at the Eifel forest venue by cold weather conditions, the Italian squad led by Angelo Rosin scored only a second place with Antonio Fuoco in Race 1 and a third place with Esteban Ocon in Race 2. In the closing heat of the weekend, the Prema stable was also hit by a multiple accident at the first corner that put three of their drivers out of contention.

Ocon leaves Germany without surrendering his championship lead, even though he got his leading margin to Max Verstappen trimmed by 17 points. Ocon now stands with 402 points, followed by Verstappen (325) and Blomqvist (315). The Frenchman, coming from the Junior Lotus Program, ended up fourth in the two qualifying sessions but didn't prove as effective as in the last few rounds. As a consequence, he opted for a clever approach to recover as many points as possible. He accomplished the mission in Race 1 with a 6th place before scoring third place in Race 2. Unfortunately, he was hit by Giovinazzi in the first few meters, and his fellow team-mates Nicholas Latifi and Dennis Van de Laar were involved. All three were forced to retire.

After rounding out the top-5 in both qualifications, Fuoco drove a positive Race 1, ending up in second place after holding the lead in the opening laps. In Race 2, the Ferrari Driver Academy man finished fourth in Race 2 before scoring the same result in Race 3, when he fought hard and held third place until the closing stages. It was a tough weekend for Latifi and Van de Laar, whose qualifying troubles jeopardized the races' results.

"I can't say that the Nürburgring round will be one of my favourites. Ocon couldn't be as effective as in the other occasions and we'll need to investigate what happened. Anyway, he raced in a clever way and focused on the championship. That showed his maturity. It's a pity for race 3, when he was prevented from showing his full potential and sent spinning straight away. I'm satisfied with the good job done by Fuoco, who was quick in Race 1 and then ended Race 2 and 3 close to a podium finish. Latifi and Van de Laar fought to make their way into the top-10, and only Nicholas accomplished the feature in Race 2 with a 10th place. Anyway, I'm not fully satisfied with that. Now we have a long break in front of us, and we'll analyze the data coming from each of our drivers before being back where we belong once on-track at Imola in October".
