Ola Nilsson returns to Germany for Porsche Carrera Cup
Wed 05, Mar, 2014

Swede Ola Nilsson is ready for the biggest challenge of his career, when he in 2014 returns to the international racing arena with a full-scale assualt in the German sports car championship Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland.

Nilsson has signed for the multiple champions Team Deutsche Post by Project 1, and takes thus on the world's largest national Porsche championship after finishing second overall in the Swedish equivalent of the Porsche Carrera Cup in 2013.

The re-establishment in Germany - where Nilsson two years ago won eight of ten races on his way to the title in the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup - marks an important key step in the 26-year-old's long charted long-term career plan.

- This is a seat I've dreamt about for a long time, and an absolutely amazing opportunity for me , says Ola Nilsson. I have been working towards a place in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland for years, and have been fortunate to be able to follow the championship at closer quarters in the recent past . It's exceptionally tough competition and an environment that will undoubtedly give me the best possible conditions for the future.

As part of the evaluation for 2014 conducted Nilsson a guest appearance last fall at the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland finale at Hockenheim. A 15th place among 33 starters whetted the appetite - and also increased the national driver's understanding of what is required in the pursuit of success.

- It has been important for me to get the confidence of a top team, and Team Deutsche Post by Project 1 has over 20 years of experience and hundreds Carrera Cup victories in the trunk, continues Nilsson. I will be up against the world's fastest Porsche drivers, and then it is simply necessary to have a strong team in the back. It will be very hard and as a newcomer, I must be understood to have realistic goals, but I could not be more satisfied with life right now!

Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland is one of the support classes to the popular touring car championship DTM - Germany's biggest motorsport platform - and annually attract massive media attention. The 2014 season runs for nine races, two of which are determined outside of Germany in Hungary and Austria respectively. The premiere takes place at Hockenheim in conjunction with the DTM start on 2nd to 4th of May.
