Team Icer Brakes to enter second Norma M20 FC in the Maxi Endurance 32
Mon 24, Nov, 2014

This morning, Team Icer Brakes has confirmed its second entry in the Maxi Endurance 32 curtain-raiser because of the success achieved among drivers. The Spanish outfit has reached an agreement with Norma to enter two cars at this milestone event. After the announcement of Ángel Burgueño last week, one of the best Spaniards on the international endurance scene, the outfit has confirmed a rising star of Spanish motorsport: Mikel Azcona.

Azcona, born on June 25, 1996 and living in Falces (Navarra), has achieved a long list of accomplishments despite his youth at national and international levels. After his career in go-karting, taking part in the most famous championships, he made his debut in touring car racing at young age of 16 years old. Azcona recorded a successful first outing in touring car championships battling with more experienced, joining the Clio Cup Spain the following year and claiming a race win at Motorland Aragón. His 2014 season was the most prolific one, as he drove in the Eurocup Clio and finishing runner-up to Óscar Nogués. Last but not least he has successfully participated in the Clio Cup Spain and Spanish Endurance Championship – teaming up with Óscar Fernández in a SEAT León Supercopa - as well.

Burgueño and Azcona will be joined by Álvaro Fontes, a race winner in the Spanish GT Championship and runner-up in the Radical European Masters this season. The entry deadline is on 1 December and from that date Team Icer Brakes will announce the driver line-up for the second car, with Javi Villa, Salvador Tineo, among other drivers, being considered. The team ́s objective is to set a new endurance world record for Spain.
