Team Profile
The Alfa Romeo Formula 1 team has been part of Formula 1 in three different stages. In 1950 and 1951 the team was entered as Alfa Romeo S.p.A. and with the driver Nino Farina won the inaugural Formula 1 World Championship of Drivers. The Formula 1 project was withdrawn after the 1952 season. The Formula 1 comeback had to wait until 1979 when Alfa Romeo returned with the team Autodelta and their Alfa Romeo 177 race car. The team continued until 1985 and withdrew from F1 after a dreadful season with the uncompetititve 185T which was replaced by the earlier 184T car midseason. In January 2019 Sauber announced that the team would rename to Alfa Romeo Racing.
